As China 's first five-star deluxe river cruise ships, the "East King" and the "East Queen ", owned and managed by Hubei Orient Royal Cruise ship Limited, are respectively started operation in August 1994 and April 1995. Both ships have the same structure, same size and almost same equipment except that East King has a big conference hall, while East Queen use this space for 8 executive suites. They were both built in Shanghai , 91.5 meters long and 16.4 meters wide, with maximum speed of 32 kilometers per hour. Launched in Aug. 29, 1994 , the East King offers 78 cabins and 2 royal suites with a total occupancy of 160 passengers. The East Queen was launched on Mar. 28, 1995 , and offers 78 cabins, 2 royal suites and 8 executive suites, with a total occupancy of 176 passengers.

All cabins feature remote-controlled satellite TV, international direct dial telephone, central air conditioning, hairdryer, mini-bar, safe, bath room with tube, shower, and phone extension. The main restaurants serve Chinese and foreign cuisine. Snacks and drinks are also available at many other places. The two ships boast an extensive selection of fine wines and drinks from all over the world.

Amenities on board each include a whirlpool, a fully equipped fitness center, sauna, massage, hair salon, mini library, clinic and shop. The night club and Karaoke rooms on the ships are also famous among the industry.

M.S. Yangtze Angel is built with advanced ship building technology and streamlined, equipped with new decorative materials that is popular nowadays. The body of ship is fresh green and glass-enclosed, on which there are two elegant curves like angel's wings to make the ship an angel travelling on the river. Its interior decoration is deluxe and the design is novel.
